    Hi There,
For those of you who are new to the group, I am the program provider in Washington/Seattle, and also the moderator of this group. I do hope to get back to the tasting group format soon, but I thought you all might be interested in a French Wines Master Class series I am doing this Fall at Cepae Tasting Room in Bellevue. There will be 4 classes before the New Year, 2 on Bourgogne Wines, one on Provence, and on Grower Champagne.

Specifically, the 2 classes on Bourgogne in October, are priced for the trade, and the BIVB imported the wines to e specifically for this event.
You get 8-10 wines, and 2 hours of lecture and tasting for only $29 (- $5 discount offer for you guys only)!

Please see the attached flyer. I am offering FWS students/ you guys a $5 discount on any of these classes, but you will need to simply send me the money through Venmo instead of registering through the Eventbrite link. Please leave a note specifying your registration (and that you are FWS). My Venmo handle is: MorningStarDarling.

I normally wouldn't solicit here, but because I have special pricing on the wines for this series, and sponsorship from the BIVB for the Bourgogne Wines specifically, these classes are much cheaper than even splitting the cost of wine in our tasting group format would be. So, I wanted to extend the invitation, and hope to see you there!

    Hope to see you soon!
    Warmly,
    Tanya

  • Hi Team. Steve from Sydney, Australia. I’m currently undertaking WSET Diploma (bust procrastinating/deferring) my last unit 3. Passed tasting. Having to resit theory (argh).
Thought the FWS would get my head back into a structured routine. Just registered for Fall 2018 instructor led format.

Seems that there is not a lot going on in this group. Lisa Lehar tried to start some communication but no one reflected to it. Lets change that.

To take up Lisas's input I will introduce myself.

I am a wine professional in Denmark near Copenhagen. I import wine and sell wine from all over the world.

I have gone through the WSET program and hold now the level 2 and level 3 certification.

My goal is to have FWS (in progress), SWS, IWS, And all the master programs from France.

    So whats your goals?

Anyone from Denmark by the way?

I had to move the Provence tasting to July 9th, which means we will just move everything back (I didn't get enough RSVPs for the 18th). I have 8 wines, ready to go!
    Date: July 9th
    Time 6-8pm
    Place Northwest Wine Academy

We have enough people to go ahead, so please RSVP to me via email if you would like to confirm a spot, the cost will be calculated after I receive final RSVPs, but it will be under $25 for sure.

Hope to meet you, or see you again on July 9th!

OK, I had to put the sessions I want to do on the calendar or they wouldn't happen. Unfortunately, I am too busy to operate on consensus scheduling.
Here is my tasting group schedule:
    Monday, June 18 6-8pm - Provence
Monday, July 9 -6-8 Barolo vs. Barbaresco
    Monday, August 6th 6-8pm - Toscano

Because I buy wine based on # of participants, you must RSVP ASAP, and let me know if something happens. about 1-2 weeks before each tasting I buy the wines, announce the cost of the session (based on RSVPs), and request payment via Venmo (which is easy and free). The typical cost is $25-$50, but it totally depends on the size of the group. $50 is the absolute cap, where we postpone for more participants.

Let me know if you would like to join for any of these sessions, and I will put you on that list.
Hope to taste with you this summer!
    Tanya

  • Hey Guys,
Did you ever get together to taste? I have a group, which it might make sense to merge with this group. I plan to revive activity in June/July/August with tastings in Provence, Barolo, and Chianti. I call the group tasting for terroir, and focus on the nuances which cause variation within a single AOC in each session. I'll post here, when I have sessions scheduled, and would love to see you all. I guy wine at wholesale, and distribute the actual cost of wine amongst participants. The sessions I organize are for my own educational obsessions, and to share those with like-minded people, I do not charge at all for what I offer in the sessions.

Wishing some of you in this group lots of luck on your FWS exam this weekend!!
    Cheers!
    Tanya
