Dear participants of the June 2015 Champagne trip, please take a few minutes to introduce yourself to other trip participants. You may also start a seperate topic to ask for advice, propose post- or pre-trip activities!
Hello gang - I am Laura Conway and very excited for the trip especially as I just attended the review session yesterday in NYC (with Peter Liem and Charles Curtis) where we tasted some excellent wines. Currently I live in Massachusetts but previously resided in San Francisco where I worked for the Henry Wine Group as a Brand Manager. I will be leaving my three kids at home (aged 6, 3 and 1 1/2) so my husband is getting major kudos from me for keeping up the fort while I'm away.
I look forward to meeting everyone and getting to know the Champagne region better. Cheers!
Hello from Burlington, NC. My name is Linda Barron, and I (with my honey John Stubblefield) will be participating in the Champagne immersion trip. We have both had the pleasure of being part of the French Wine Society for over seven years now. If this is your first trip, you are in for a terrific experience. No one does these kinds of trips better than FWS. We have been on several of the immersion and the educator trips. I can't say enough about what we learned and how much we have enjoyed ourselves. I look forward to meeting all of you, and I also hope to see a few familiar faces. Safe travels to all.
My name is Mike Dutch and I've been on the Sud de France immersion trip previously and really enjoyed it. This time, my wife Karen will be joining me for the Champagne trip. We're wondering what kind of clothes to pack as it sounds like Champagne is often cloudy and rainy. Anyone have experience travelling in the region this time of year?
Wheather in Champagne in June can vary a lot. But, today's weather forcasts are quite good and you get forecasts 10 days in advance. So, I would really look at the forcasts 10 days prior to the trip to decide what clothes to pack.
Hello all, I am Eric Smith, Operations Director at Woodland Hills Wine Co. in Los Angeles, although I split my time between LA and San Francisco. Last summer I had the pleasure of participating in the Burgundy immersion study trip, and was highly impressed with the experience in every way. I'm very much looking forward to meeting everyone next week and experiencing another fantastic study trip in Champagne. As I am traveling solo, and having received the detailed itinerary just today, I realized I did not plan ahead for the two nights of dinner on our own. I would be eager to join anyone for dinner on either of those nights. Please let me know if anyone else is in the same boat. Thanks and see you all next week!
