DISCOVER WSG’S NEWEST MASTER-LEVEL STUDY & CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
The Loire Master-Level!
Launches September 23, 2019
Meet the Loire Master-Level team After several years of hard work, we are excited to present & acknowledge the talents behind the Wine Scholar Guild’s latest Master-Level Program
1) Pascaline Lepeltier MS: Lead Instructor and Copy Editor
We are extremely fortunate to be collaborating with Loire wine expert and advocate Pascaline Lepeltier MS on this project.
A renowned sommelier, author and wine educator who grew up in the Loire Valley, Pascaline meticulously reviewed the manuscript and gave valuable insights to each chapter. We are excited to have her on board as the lead instructor! Pascaline has compiled an impressive list of achievements in her storied wine career.
She became a Master Sommelier in 2014 and in October 2018, Pascaline was successfully awarded laureate of “Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France – Classe Sommellerie,” the first woman to ever achieve this title. A month later, she won the title of “BestFrench Sommelier,” also the first woman to win this competition in its modern format. She is one of only eight French sommeliers to hold both distinctions.
Then, in 2019, she was the first woman to be named “Personality of the Year” by the famous French magazine La Revue du Vin de France, the leading wine publication in Europe.
Pascaline Lepeltier MS, MOF: Lead Instructor:
“The Loire Master-Level manual is fantastic, really strong … the best book on the Loire in English right now!”
2) Melanie Poupart: Researcher
Melanie researched the source material, compiling the facts and figures necessary to write the manual.
Melanie was born in a wine estate in the Loire valley and got bitten by the wine bug from day one. She earned the coveted “Diplome National d’Oenologie” at the University of Bordeaux in 2004 followed by a Master degree in Agriculture Engineering at the École Supérieure d’Agriculture in Angers.
After working at several wine estates in the Loire valley, Melanie and her family moved to Singapore, then Malaysia, where she worked as a wine consultant and educator for several wine companies. Melanie is fresh back in France and excited for a new chapter of her life… back in her native Loire valley.
