Congratulations to Daisuke Shibuya, FWS for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with honors with Lim Hwee Peng School of Wine in Singapore!
''I’m a sommelier based in Japanese Cuisine. I’ve graduated Culinary Arts in Santa Barbara, California. Before deciding to be a sommelier, I used to be a chef. After I came back to Japan, I have been working in Italian Restaurant as a chef but also serving wines to guests across the bar-kitchen counter. Because I’ve leant F&B in a Wine County, I love wine and my mind was set to become a wine professional.
After I got certified as a sommelier in Japan, I’ve moved to Singapore.
Working with Japanese Cuisine, there is no restriction of wines. It is my pleasure to use wines from all countries which go well with Japanese food.
I am Certified Sommelier by Japan Sommelier Association, CSW, and WSET Advanced. I am also currently enrolled in the WSET Diploma program.
FWS is of course only focused on French Wine, which means I could lean more details not like other certification. Some parts are not covered even in the WSET syllabus.
Thus, FWS helps me a lot more than I have expected and provided me with some new ideas.
I believe that FWS program will help me a lot with not just French wine, but also the history behind them. Moving forward, I am more confident and have a deeper knowledge of French wine and inch closer to my goal of being a Master of Wine.''
