Congratulations to Lyndsey Wylie, FWS, for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!
I am a wine enthusiast and my passion for wine has grown hugely over the past few years. People often ask “what was the wine that started your interest?” If I were to go back many years, my father was a huge Bourgogne and Beaujolais fan (yes I remember the Beaujolais Nouveau races of the 1980s!). Bourgogne is where my enjoyment started and I remain a committed Pinot Noir fan to this day. However, with my studies and being able to travel, my horizons have expanded and my knowledge has grown - I will often head for the Italian and North American pages on the wine list these days.
In addition to the FWS, I hold the IWS qualification and the WSET Level 3 qualification. I have just started the WSET Level 4 Diploma. I know that the FWS and the IWS will help me enormously on the Diploma course. The detail that I have learned gives me the confidence to approach the Diploma knowing that I have the right background to build on. I also plan to study the WSG, Master level Bordeaux programme which I know will be both valuable and enjoyable.
I have just moved back to the UK after many years of working abroad. This is giving me the opportunity to change careers and I hope to move into the wine world professionally and perhaps even teach once my studies are completed. The FWS (and the IWS) give me the background and the knowledge that I think I will need.
