Excellent over all specially Sharon and Lisa great knowledge about the region and history.
The ultimate program for wine professionals .

I chose this course to give me a focus during Covid 19 lockdown. I anticipated that I would have less of a social life and more time on my hands, so I decided that I would try to achieve something positive. The course was perfect. It was demanding, and there was a lot to remember, but the course text book was well structured and clear and the online teachers were very knowledgeable. If I do have a suggestion it would be that the online materials could presented in a more uniform and sophisticated way.
5 1 5 Corrie Wilkinson on May 21, 2021
I loved the course! The materials and teaching were superb and the course introduced me to a number of new wine styles which I would never have thought to try. I now have a much better appreciation of French wine.
5 1 4 Joyce Tarantino on May 14, 2021
In-depth study of French regions and wines for the serious student. Be prepared to devote a considerable amount of time to study and plan several reviews of all the material, in the book and on-line. Flash cards are most helpful, as are the maps.Highly recommend!
5 1 5 Annette Solomon on May 4, 2021
I feel so much more knowledgeable and comfortable with the wine regions of France since taking the French Wine Scholar program.
5 1 5 Alexander Lopez on Apr 30, 2021
The Wine Scholar Guild provides a detailed and enthusiastic approach to learning wine. The 10-week instructor course was an excellent way to gain access to the information from the comfort of home. I will definitely use WSG for furthering my wine education.

5 1 4 Jean-Philippe Joye on Apr 13, 2021
Beyond the amount of knowledge acquired during this course - as a Frenchman, I never thought that we had SO MANY AOCs within our country! -, it is the sharing and exchange with the group of participants that I most enjoyed. Tasting sessions were very well suited and our coach Lim Hwee Peng is the best mentor one can dream about. Overall, an experience to remember!
5 1 5 Renato Ahualle on Apr 5, 2021
FWS is by far the best french wine program available. I feel really confident to talk about all the french regions, their wines, and particularities. I strongly recommend this program.
5 1 5 Cole Freimund on Mar 4, 2021
Fantastic program with world-class instructors.
5 1 5 Mark Wayda on Feb 20, 2021
This course was not an exersize in rote learning of facts and data points. This course is about the "whys" of French Wine. It brings together the grapes, soils, topography, climate, culture, and tradition to give the student the capacity to understand French viticulture and viniculture, and better appreciate both the art and science of French Wine making.
5 1 4 Soumyajit Kanungo on Feb 19, 2021
This is hands down the best course to study French Wines and the history behind it which gave the modern day reputation of the wines of France. It’s definitely going to help me a lot to prepare for my Advanced Sommelier certification.
5 1 4 Frank De Staebel on Jan 19, 2021
I discovered grapes I had never heard of. The book inspires me to get to know France better. And the history ... and the gastronomy ... and the wines of course
5 1 4 Willem Philippe on Jan 19, 2021
I appreciate in particular the very efficient and pleasant instructor-led sessions with an efficient knowledge transfer and testing, and an excellent style of presenting (very nice voice and tone, beautiful language which was so nice to listen to for me as a non native English speaker). Many thanks.
5 1 5 Nikki Erpelding on Jan 13, 2021
I found the French Wine Scholar Instructor led course to be an amazing journey into the depth of information this course provided. I feel like I have a strong grasp of the diverse regions of France. I studied every morning before work, now I miss my quiet study time, I guess I better select my next course. Thank you!

The French Wine Scholar course is challenging and fun. Any student who puts the time and effort into it will come away with a vast knowledge of French wine and French history. The final exam, which encompasses the entire textbook, is a challenge even for those with a working knowledge of French wine going in. The instructors are friendly and engaging, and the online classes helpful. Also helpful are the learning modules, flash cards and tips. I would highly recommend this course for anyone wishing to become a true French wine scholar.

The FWS study program is one of the most comprehensive and in depth curriculums I have come across. The instructor-led format was really helpful and kept me engaged and excited. I will 100% be enrolling in the IWS study program and have recommended the Wine Scholar Guild to all of my peers.
5 1 5 Alex Gapinski on Dec 8, 2020
This course was amazing! The material was easy to digest and having multiple formats (i.e. book, instructor slide show, online quizzes and modules) was particularly helpful for those that learn best with multiple exposures. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a thorough overview of French wines and hope to take the other courses available.
5 1 5 Lyndsey Wylie on Dec 8, 2020
I thoroughly enjoyed the FWS programme. The instructor led, on line course worked really well for me living in Hong Kong. It meant that I could study in my own time and the right timezone!

The instructors were excellent and brought expertise and humour to the course - thank you Sharon and Lisa!

Now, I am keen to study the Bordeaux masterclass and understand the region in even more depth.
5 1 5 Bill Donahue on Dec 7, 2020
I found the format of the online instructors (Sharon and Lisa) to be excellent. The modules were fun, educational and very interactive. The ability to rewatch the recorded sections was vital to me in order to pass the exam. Everything needed for the exam is in the classes and book. Great educational experience

I took the FWS course with WSG allied in Brazil (Enocultura). The course was very comprehensive and materials provided (both online and paper book) were of high quality. The course requires a high investment in self-study time as the test is not easy. I would recommend the training to all wine lovers (professionals or not) who wants to deep dive into French wine, culture and history.
5 1 5 Nancy Reinertz-Sjoblom on Nov 14, 2020
I followed this course to help me prepare (as well) for my WSET Level 3. I found the book was well-designed and the on-line lessons were interesting and fun to follow. My wine knowledge and understanding of terroir and wine production has increased enormously!
5 1 5 Shwan Kassim on Nov 8, 2020
It’s a great program that gave me deep insight into terroir and how soils and geography drive textures and flavors in wine. The consistency of the approach to each of the wine regions helped me parse their uniqueness.
5 1 5 Shreen Ahmad on Aug 12, 2020
A comprehensive and well-structured programme. The instructors (Sharon and Lisa) were very knowledgeable, responsive, approachable and encouraging.
5 1 4 Yvonne OU on Jul 4, 2020
Instructor-led course online was comprehensive and boosted my knowledge on areas of France that I found tricky. Most importantly it was delivered in an interesting way by a friendly instructor! Thank you!
5 1 5 Rich Vanderheiden on Jun 27, 2020
I found the the FWS course to be excellent. The wine learning experience is better than courses I have taken with the Society of Wine Educators and the Court of Master Sommeliers. It is important not to do the FWS course just to pass the exam, but to find value in immersing yourself in the wine regions of France.
5 1 4 Andres Alexander Medrano-Brenes on Jun 25, 2020
Fantastic program. Loved every bit of it. The teachers are very knowledgeable with tons of education experience. The book is a great reference, easy to read and study. Love WSG from Paris to the Moon! ;-)

The French Wine Scholar program is a comprehensive course that is both challenging and very rewarding. It is truly amazing how much information is required in the preparation and learning of the material. This is not a superficial wine course, rather it is a program the has depth and meaning and beauty. It is a course that teaches about the famed wines of such diverse regions, from climates to the soil types, to the expression of the different grapes themselves under different influences. This course also adds to that, the rich history and development of the wine legacy that runs so deep within the terroir itself. The instructors were very passionate and put a lot of heart into the material for every class. It is one of the most profound courses I have had the fortunate opportunity to experience and I have personally expanded from the knowledge.
5 1 4 Rosa Lyn Joy Way Bueno on Jun 18, 2020
What I liked the most about FWS was to learn about French wine regions in a very comprehensive way and not only the most famous or commercial ones. Moreover, the strong focus on history was interesting as well.
