Who can participate?
This scholarship opportunity is open to all students officially enrolled in the Master of Wine program and at any stage of their studies.
Eligibility to apply for this scholarship will be verified by the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW).
Application Process:
Using the form below, applicants are required to submit their CV/résumé or bio accompanied by a 750 to 1000-word essay on the following topic:
Which Spanish, French, OR Italian appellation has the greatest potential to appeal to a new generation of wine consumer? Why?
Scholarship Package:
Scholarship recipients are offered enrollment in the next the French, Italian, or Spanish Wine Scholar® study & certification programs in either "independent study format" or "instructor-led" format. These programs include:
- The corresponding Wine Scholar study manual
- A suggested schedule of study with learning objectives for each region
- Interactive e-learning modules on all wine regions of the covered country
- Online quizzes and learning games for self-evaluation
- Online flashcards
- Instructor Q&A forum for assistance as well as Student Community forum
- Downloadable maps of all wine regions
- Access to repeat-after-me pronunciation exercises

Rules and Selection Process:
Applicants are welcome to submit up to one application for each program. Previous winners of WSG Scholarships may also apply again for a different program than they were awarded in the past.
Scholarship applications are sent to a committee of Wine Scholar Gild instructors for review.
Winner Announcements & Essay Publication:
Winners will be notified via email and in advance of public announcement scheduled for around March 15, 2023. Essays of the scholarship winners may be published on the WSG blog with author bio.
Deadline:
All applications must be complete and submitted by February 28, 2023 11:59 PM EST. Incomplete applications, or applications received after this deadline, will not be accepted.
