Registration for the IWS Unit 1 online exam-sit

  • The exam is composed of 100 multiple-choice questions and must be completed in 60 minutes.
  • To become an Italian Wine Scholar and receive the IWS credential candidates need to pass the exams for Unit 1 and Unit 2 with a composite score of 75%
  • The scores from both exams are added together and averaged for final assessment.
  • Students with a composite score of 85-90.5 pass with HONORS. Candidates scoring 91-100 pass with HIGHEST HONORS.
  • Online exam candidates must have a computer (tablet not compatible), a good internet connection, a webcam and a microphone with speakers for proctoring purposes.

This program is an incredible source of information. Overall the work put into building this course is nothing short of impressive. You get great support from the WSG team for any question or problem. Lots of resources on the site also to help you study and integrate the infos... quizz, powerpoints, etc...Can't wait to dive into the second unit!

Great program! The book was very thorough and I feel like told you everything you needed to know for the test. The quizzes were informative and the Flashcards and pronunciation were key!

In my opinion it helped me in my work, where we work only Italian wines, the maps help a lot, easy to use the website from the cell phone and the book is very complete, the only thing missing is to suggest some DOCG producers that you have to taste.

The IWS Italian Wine Scholar Unit 1 opened my mind and eyes to parts of Italy I knew nothing about and provided me with in-depth knowledge on the wines from Northern Italy regions. I now read the whole wine menu in Italian restaurants and look for wines I learned about. I have chosen Vermintino and Barbara recently instead of the standard Soave or Chianti and had the pleasure to introduce and explain to my friends.The course is well structured and very well run.

Wasatch Academy of Wine always executes and excellent program. Sheral Schowe has complete control of an excellent wine cellar for wines of the program, and has visited, and has a personal relationship, with many of the wineries, producers, winemakers and owners. Dr. Sue Geary, an educator, did an amazing job of presenting and controlling the class. She is extremely organized and generous with her personal and very complete study materials. She made my learning journey a joy!
