In-depth study of French regions and wines for the serious student. Be prepared to devote a considerable amount of time to study and plan several reviews of all the material, in the book and on-line. Flash cards are most helpful, as are the maps.Highly recommend!

Beyond the amount of knowledge acquired during this course - as a Frenchman, I never thought that we had SO MANY AOCs within our country! -, it is the sharing and exchange with the group of participants that I most enjoyed. Tasting sessions were very well suited and our coach Lim Hwee Peng is the best mentor one can dream about. Overall, an experience to remember!

This course was not an exersize in rote learning of facts and data points. This course is about the "whys" of French Wine. It brings together the grapes, soils, topography, climate, culture, and tradition to give the student the capacity to understand French viticulture and viniculture, and better appreciate both the art and science of French Wine making.

This is hands down the best course to study French Wines and the history behind it which gave the modern day reputation of the wines of France. It’s definitely going to help me a lot to prepare for my Advanced Sommelier certification.

I discovered grapes I had never heard of. The book inspires me to get to know France better. And the history ... and the gastronomy ... and the wines of course

I appreciate in particular the very efficient and pleasant instructor-led sessions with an efficient knowledge transfer and testing, and an excellent style of presenting (very nice voice and tone, beautiful language which was so nice to listen to for me as a non native English speaker). Many thanks.

The French Wine Scholar course is challenging and fun. Any student who puts the time and effort into it will come away with a vast knowledge of French wine and French history. The final exam, which encompasses the entire textbook, is a challenge even for those with a working knowledge of French wine going in. The instructors are friendly and engaging, and the online classes helpful. Also helpful are the learning modules, flash cards and tips. I would highly recommend this course for anyone wishing to become a true French wine scholar.

The FWS study program is one of the most comprehensive and in depth curriculums I have come across. The instructor-led format was really helpful and kept me engaged and excited. I will 100% be enrolling in the IWS study program and have recommended the Wine Scholar Guild to all of my peers.

This course was amazing! The material was easy to digest and having multiple formats (i.e. book, instructor slide show, online quizzes and modules) was particularly helpful for those that learn best with multiple exposures. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a thorough overview of French wines and hope to take the other courses available.

I thoroughly enjoyed the FWS programme. The instructor led, on line course worked really well for me living in Hong Kong. It meant that I could study in my own time and the right timezone!

The instructors were excellent and brought expertise and humour to the course - thank you Sharon and Lisa!

Now, I am keen to study the Bordeaux masterclass and understand the region in even more depth.

I found the format of the online instructors (Sharon and Lisa) to be excellent. The modules were fun, educational and very interactive. The ability to rewatch the recorded sections was vital to me in order to pass the exam. Everything needed for the exam is in the classes and book. Great educational experience

I took the FWS course with WSG allied in Brazil (Enocultura). The course was very comprehensive and materials provided (both online and paper book) were of high quality. The course requires a high investment in self-study time as the test is not easy. I would recommend the training to all wine lovers (professionals or not) who wants to deep dive into French wine, culture and history.

It’s a great program that gave me deep insight into terroir and how soils and geography drive textures and flavors in wine. The consistency of the approach to each of the wine regions helped me parse their uniqueness.

I found the the FWS course to be excellent. The wine learning experience is better than courses I have taken with the Society of Wine Educators and the Court of Master Sommeliers. It is important not to do the FWS course just to pass the exam, but to find value in immersing yourself in the wine regions of France.

The French Wine Scholar program is a comprehensive course that is both challenging and very rewarding. It is truly amazing how much information is required in the preparation and learning of the material. This is not a superficial wine course, rather it is a program the has depth and meaning and beauty. It is a course that teaches about the famed wines of such diverse regions, from climates to the soil types, to the expression of the different grapes themselves under different influences. This course also adds to that, the rich history and development of the wine legacy that runs so deep within the terroir itself. The instructors were very passionate and put a lot of heart into the material for every class. It is one of the most profound courses I have had the fortunate opportunity to experience and I have personally expanded from the knowledge.

What I liked the most about FWS was to learn about French wine regions in a very comprehensive way and not only the most famous or commercial ones. Moreover, the strong focus on history was interesting as well.

Great class. As an enthusiast rather than a professional, I found the content challenging but learnable, and the explanations clear and not jargon laden.
