Congratulations to Richard Milot, for passing the Alsace Master-Level exam with highest honors!

About Richard:

Alsace is where my exposure to winemaking, vineyard management, and wine business was shaped and mentored thanks to a long and rewarding friendship with a venerable ‘’vignerons’’ family whose wine history in Ammerschwihr goes back over four hundred years. In 2003, I was invited to join the Confrérie St-Etienne d’Alsace, one of France’s most ancient wine brotherhoods and since 2005 I am a proud Master of the Confrérie. Ergo, the Alsace Master level presented itself as a ‘’must do’’ and a ‘’must do well.’’

Having transited from professional soldier to wine professional five years ago I quickly realized how critical it was to go beyond the enthusiasm and to establish a modicum of credibility to better support our modest but dynamic agency. After my Sommelier Certification and the WSET 3, the WSG offered just the right framework for that purpose. Building on the FWS, I then found the Master Level Program to provide the educational challenge to continue fuelling the passion whilst vastly increasing my knowledge base.

I much appreciated this Alsace Master program for its framework, its use of authoritative sources in developing a relevant package and its access to a rich web-based material. In that sense, Thierry Meyer was an invaluable seminar director.  All in all, my first experience at the Master Level has whet my thirst for more.
