Dustin Freund, FWS, Chef at Michelin star restaurants
    Other certifications: WSET level 3

Congratulations Dustin Freund, FWS for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with the highest honors with Bordeaux Wine Campus in France!

    About Dustin Freund:

''I guess I am currently more of a wine enthusiast than a professional, but I am working my way towards becoming one. I have been a cook at Michelin star restaurants for the last five years, and trained in culinary arts in Switzerland before that. Along with the atmosphere of fine dinning comes fine wine. That is how I got my introduction into this world. Since then I have been trying to expand my knowledge of wines and to make a transition to become a Sommelier.

I have taken WSET Level 3, and passed with distinction. I am currently enrolled in the Court of Masters Sommelier, to take the introduction sommelier and certified sommelier exams in February. I felt that the WSET was a very good course but it covers the whole world of wine, including spirits. It wasn’t nearly as in depth as the French Wine Scholar is. For that reason I really liked the level of information provided in the French Wine Scholar. I feel that it has given me a strong foundation in French wine that will help me greatly in my attempt to succeed at the Court of Masters Sommelier.

I feel that because the wine industry is a cornerstone in quality wine production, that having a solid base knowledge of the French wine industry and the techniques used, are paramount to understanding the rest of the world of wine. I think that taking the French Wine Scholar program was an important step in starting a career in the wine industry.''
