Congrats to Antonio Assumpcao, FWS, student of Johnson & Wales University in Florida for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with honors!

About Antonio:

''I am a lawyer admitted to practice in Brazil and in the US, with a passion for laws, maps, history and stories. I fell in love with wine when I realized that I could enjoy a nice bottle and use it as the perfect excuse to time travel and find my passions in a rich and elaborated world. The world of wine. And once I get there, and the more I learn, the more I learn that there is more to learn.

I had read many wine books before my wife, a lawyer turned Chef and fellow French Wine Scholar, introduced me to a great French sommelier, Yves Payraudeau, who was about to start teaching a WSET Level II class. I didn’t think twice and enrolled –  and ended up passing with distinction. More recently, I had the honor to be mentored by Professor Gershwin Narraidoo, who helped me and my classmates navigate the defiant waters of the FWS program, a second to none certification with a comprehensive curriculum. I couldn’t be happier and am looking forward to my first master-level very soon! Santé!''
