Congratulations to Darla Schumacher, FWS, for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!
I am a wine enthusiast who only started enjoying wine when in my late 50’s. When traveling through Spain with a friend, we stopped in Rioja region for some tasting. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the wine and asked the question, “Why doesn’t all wine taste like this”. The women pouring the tasting provided some information on the terroir impact to wine. I was hooked! From that one visit to a wine shop, I started my journey to better understand why not all wine tasted like the Rioja wine I had tasted in Spain.
I took a few beginner classes in Philadelphia followed by achieving CSW with the Society of Wine Educators. Since earning my CSW, I have earned American Wine Expert through the Napa Valley Wine Academy.
The French Wine Scholar program provided an excellent and comprehensive exploration into the wines and wine regions of France. The knowledge gleaned from the FWS materials has greatly advanced my passion for wine and of sharing my wine passion with other enthusiasts.
I am currently and enthusiastically enrolled in the Spanish Wine Scholar program.
