Congratulations to Jordan Smith, FWS, for achieving highest honors in the French Wine Scholar exam with The Wine House, Los Angeles.

About Jordan:

I'm both a wine professional and an enthusiast! I work for Wine Warehouse selling a vast array of direct import and domestic wines from Chile to Washington to Slovenia! I service restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. My real passion is the Santa Rita Hills AVA and surrounding Santa Ynez Valley wine region. I truly think this region is ready for worldwide acclaim. I spend most of my free weekends visiting the region learning as much as I can about the unique Pinot Noir there!

I have completed WSET II and am currently on the fence regarding either Level III WSET or Italian Wine Scholar. I really enjoy the educational access afforded by The Guild, specifically Jamie Goode's recent series on faults. Perhaps IWS will help me prepare for the WSET III!

I really enjoy the scientific slant that the Wine Scholar Guild takes on wine. There are so many unknowable and ethereal things in the wine world so it helps me appreciate the finer points of a particular bottle or region by studying the foundations through the Guild. Having a solid scientific foundation helps me navigate the vast gray area that is selling wine.
