Congratulations to Kara Daly, FWS, for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!

About Kara Daly:

I’m an emerging wine writer – I fell in love with the study of wine while working as a server. I realized that my guests completely avoided Old World Wine because the labels are a language barrier. I started a newsletter, Wine Is Confusing, to translate wine labels and teach people the exploration of wine.  Get the people sipping on some magic, that’s my end goal here.

I began my studies by completing WSET II which answered the million dollar questions I had as a beginner, and it only fed my curiosity. FWS added to this a newfound excitement for the history of the world and wine’s place in it all, as well as a love for blank maps. Oh, the blank maps, I’ll never forget them.

Credentials are great but as a writer, I’m driven simply by a desire to understand, and this program really helped me understand French wine. FWS allowed me to approach my wine studies from a sense of place; what better way to do it?
