Congratulations to Kenneth Wong, FWS, for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors with AWSEC, Hong Kong.

About Kenneth:

I am definitely a wine lover! I found my passion in drinking and studying wine 5 years ago. I met a sommelier at my workplace who taught me lots of wine knowledge such as the theory of food and wine pairing, character of different grape varieties as well as some interesting stories behind the label.  I wanted to obtained more wine knowledge and I think it could benefit my career in future so I have accomplished WSET level 2 course, followed by WSET level 3.

I love to read wine books and magazines and also love to enjoy wines when having dinner with my family and friends. I can say drinking and studying wines are important parts in my life! Thanks mother of nature to create wines to us!

I passed the WSET Level 3 last year, but I would like to dig deeper into French wines.  Thus, this is the main reason why I chose the FWS program.

The program provided me with a lot of insights and updated information for the French winemaking regions like Bordeaux and Burgundy, as well as some lesser known regions like Jura. (Such a region was never been mentioned in the WSET level 3!)

Transit to my job in the Hong Kong Jockey Club, I could utilize my FWS knowledge to share with the members differences between various French Wine Regions, or even the subtle differences within the region! It aided me to provide more knowledgeable salesmanship to the members overall!

Special thanks to Jennie Mack who was my tutor in AWSEC who lead me to explore the French wines. Her teaching was very detailed, informative without a loss of some humor. I would not have today’s achievement without her leading.

The FWS program was a very informative and systematic program for me to learn more about French wines.
Thus, after studying with the Wine Scholar Guild, I would really like to give my try with other programs like the Italian Wine Scholar.

As such a complicated wine region like Italy would be tough to study on my own. However, with the program and resources from the Wine Scholar Guild, I would hope that I could pick up the Italian wines just like I did for the FWS.

The WSG certification absolutely boosted my career by providing me with a certification to show my clients my expertise on French wine. It facilitates me to drive more sales to the clients and boost the overall sales.
