About Larry:
I am a lifelong wine enthusiast as well as having a 20 year history of owning a small vineyard and a private wine label. After selling my property three years ago I was looking for a new challenge and chose the Wine Scholar Guild over many other programs. My daughter is a graduate of the wine business program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and we have often thought about opening a wine bar. I thought that this would be a good program to deepen my knowledge of French wine.
I completed the first stage of the Court of Master Sommeliers as well as a tasting seminar but did not continue to the next level because the wine service training was not practical for me. The in depth, knowledge based focus of the FWS was exactly what I wanted. The ability to accompany my studies with appropriate wines from each region that we studied was illuminating.
My plan is to continue with the Wine Scholar Guild and the FWS to pursue master classes in Bourgogne, Bordeaux and the Loire as I continue to look for business opportunities here in California.
