Congratulations to Mark Kroninger, FWS, for achieving highest honors in the French Wine Scholar exam with Commonwealth Wine School, Cambridge MA.

About Mark:

I am not currently in the wine industry, I have always been in the media marketing and advertising sales fields. But I am a wine enthusiast most definitely. I have taken a dive into studying wine over the past few years, as I love the subject and hope to someday tap upon my growing wine expertise to become a wine educator.

I passed both the WSET Level 2 and Level 3 each “with distinction”. Through those studies, I found myself becoming drawn more and more to French wine, both for the diversity of regions and styles, as well as my growing preference toward more elegant and restrained wines. The FWS program really helped me refine my knowledge and understanding of French wine, in a way that built upon my WSET studies, but was much more granular in nature.

I most likely plan on enrolling in the Spanish Wine Scholar or Italian Wine Scholar program(s) next to broaden my in-depth knowledge of those countries and regions.

On a personal level, the increased knowledge piqued my curiosity to try new and different wines and styles from all over France that I was not overly familiar with previously, and gave me a new level of confidence when shopping/ordering French wines. Professionally, I hope to someday become a wine educator, so the FWS program has definitely helped me prepare for that goal.
