Congratulations to Paolo Elisei, FWS, for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors with Wine House, Melbourne, Australia!

About Paolo:

I am a wine lover and I also work in the industry as an Account Manager selling wines to restaurants and bottle shops across Australia.

I am an Italian living in Australia and I always enjoyed a good “vino” but my real passion for wine started when I discovered the rolling hills of the Yarra Valley, its beautiful vineyards and delicious wines. With time I then went back to the Old World and started appreciating Italian wines and of course French wines.  My favorite white is Chardonnay, better if it’s a Chablis and my favorite red is Nebbiolo or better Barolo!  I love blind tasting and I like getting friends and family excited about wine.

I have completed WSET Level 2 and Level 3 both with distinction. They were a great introduction to the world of wine.  The FWS program has taken my knowledge of French wines and in general of terroir, climate, winemaking and wine styles to a whole new level. It has definitely improved my overall knowledge about wine and wine culture.  I will enroll to do the IWS-PREP as I am also very passionate about Italian Wines and I would like to learn more about Italy.

I think that after completing the FWS program, my confidence regarding wine and all its aspects has increased and this will help me in my future working experiences as well as other wine courses.  This is mainly due to the level of details covered throughout the courses such as regulations, specific terminology, climate and geographic influences, type of soils and characteristics of the grapes. They all play a part in making a wine taste like it’s supposed to taste…it just make all sense!  I can only be more enthusiastic about tasting and discovering new wines and new wine regions.
