Congratulations to Tim Killen, FWS, for achieving highest honors in the French Wine Scholar exam with the West London Wine School.

About Tim

After working for several decades in a corporate sales environment I started my own wine consultancy in 2019, so you could say I made my passion for wine something that I live and breathe 24/7!

My business has several strands from a contract with a UK wine importer selling specialist Alpine Wines to the UK wine trade, running a member based online wine club, buying wines for private clients, hosting and running wine tasting events for corporate and private clients and consultancy on wine tourism.

After completing both WSET Levels 2 & 3 with Distinction I was looking to further my wine studies with a greater in-depth knowledge of French wine.

The FWS was the perfect fit! I thoroughly enjoyed getting into more knowledge and detail particularly on areas of France that I knew less well and have not yet visited. In fact, it has inspired a few new trips in the offing.

FWS has sparked a further interest in my thirst for wine knowledge. I have recently become a full WSG member and have enjoyed the Soil Signature series.  I am also studying for Italian Wine Scholar Part 1 and hope to sit Part 2 in the Autumn of 2022.

The FWS has laid a deeper foundation for my knowledge of French wines and I have found this to be invaluable both in terms of my ability to sell and communicate about French wines. Ultimately, it’s been a thoroughly enjoyable experience but also one that’s reaping rewards for my business too!
