Congratulations to Valentina Pestova, FWS for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors with Bordeaux Wine Campus in France!

About Valentina Pestova:

''I became a wine enthusiast after moving to Bordeaux 5 years ago to study the Informatics. Sure, I have started to discover the region of Bordeaux, and wine industry became my great passion. I devote much of my time to my hobby to improve my knowledge in wine and my tasting skills. Thanks to the unique wine museum of Bordeaux – “La Cité du Vin” – its events, dedicated to the different wine regions and commented tastings with professors from ISVV (Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences of Bordeaux), I can meet a lot of people with the same passion for wine, and get a lot of information. I am very motivated in my personal studies in wine, and I hope to become a wine professional soon.

I have successfully passed the programs of WSET Level 2 and WSET Level 3 (“Pass with Merit”) last year. I plan to enroll the WSET Level 4 program (WSET Diploma), probably, next year.  The FWS program has really extended my knowledge in French wines. I have learned a lot of historical facts about French wine producing regions, which helped me to understand their wine traditions. The FWS program also gave me more details on particularities of each French wine region, which were more generally described in the broad program of WSET Level 3.

The program of WSET Diploma Level 4 consider a profound studying of wine producing regions, and the FWS program will really help me while studying the wines of France.

I aspire to continue my studies of wine and to become a sommelier and a wine expert.  Sure, the FWS program will be a great advantage to learn and understand new information on the French wines in other wine studying programs (thanks to the detailed chapters on French wine regions history, climate and terroir particularities: it is a good basis to understand the wine of a region itself). I have also appreciated the chapters on regional wine and food pairings. They are very interesting and, certainly, useful for a future sommelier.''
