Congratulations to Winnie Lam, FWS, for achieving highest honors in the French Wine Scholar exam with West London Wine School.

About Winnie:

I enjoy food and wine travels. I started my wine learning journey about 10 years ago. At that time I just wanted to brush up some knowledge to help me navigate the vast choices of wines. But the more I learn, the more my appreciation and respect for this subject grows. The discoveries are endless. I enjoy being my friends and family’s designated ‘sommelier’, pleased that they all trust me and are willing to explore with me.

I have passed WSET levels 2 & 3 as well as the IWS. The WSET programs gave me a very good foundation. I love the details presented in the Wine Scholar program as it really links together the causes and effects of history, culture, geography, grape varieties and wine production. France is probably the most recognised wine country and the FWS has provided comprehensive coverage of its wines as well as highlighted many interesting aspects such as local traditions and impressed upon the essence of terroir.  I found the Wine Scholar program both enjoyable and inspirational. I plan to study for the Spanish Wine Scholar next.

The FWS course has helped broaden and deepen my knowledge. I am so glad to have learned about the lesser known regions too. I can’t wait to travel to France again to soak up the experience in person.
