Congratulations to Andrew Belcher, IWS, for passing the Italian Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!

About Andrew:

I am a wine enthusiast. I love the back stories to the wines irrespective of whether they are classed as “New“ or “Old” World. Living close to London affords the me a number of tasting opportunities through the various wine schools  such as West London; but also I am only a couple of hours  away from many of the French regions. In July I am off to Bourgogne again.
The UK with it’s sparkling wine of which I am a fan offers more opportunities for tasting and education.

Prior to undertaking courses with the Wine Scholar Guild, I undertook a number of the WSET courses up to and including the WSET Diploma. With the Wine Scholar Guild I have taken the French Wine Scholar, Champagne Master, Bordeaux Master and more recently the Italian Wine Scholar exams. In the case of the Italian I undertook Level 2 first online and Level 1 at West London and enjoyed both.
In the future I will no doubt undertake the Spanish Wine Scholar course, but will also look at the Bourgogne and Rhone Master courses.

I loved the Italian course as even though I have travelled through Northern, Central and Southern Italy and undertaken previous Italian wine courses and tastings, it introduced to a number of new areas and wine styles.
Like many of the other Wine Scholar Guild courses I have obtained a more comprehensive understanding of the history of the regions.
