Congratulations to Leslie Nguyen, IWS, for passing the Italian Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!

About Leslie:

After being a respiratory therapist for almost 20 years and feeling burnt out, I wanted to venture into a new career path.  A couple years ago I got a second job at a local winery.  During this time when they hired me, I didn’t know a lot about wine.  After working in the tasting room, it really made me excited to expand my knowledge about wine.  My hopes are to one day open a small wine bar/bottle shop where I can hold educational nights and help people understand wine a little better.

I currently have my WSET level 2 and 3 certifications. After I received my WSET level 3 pin, I knew I wanted to keep learning. After a little bit of research, I found The Wine Scholar Guild and signed up for the Italian Wine Scholar program.   Completing the WSET level 3 played a huge factor in helping me pass my IWS.  My plan is to continue and complete the French and Spanish wine scholar programs in the near future.

The IWS program will help me pursue my dream of opening my own shop.  The knowledge I have learned will help me educate others about all the regions and varietals that come from each area.
