About Maria:
I am a retired teacher who was a casual wine drinker until one day I became curious about a wine I was drinking and wanted to know more about it. I soon discovered that the world of wine is complex, deep, and wide, and that it would take more than a cursive reading to understand the nature of any wine. I became utterly fascinated and so my journey began.
I completed the CSW, the CSS, WSET 3, FWS (Highest Honours) SWS (Highest Honours) and am currently a WSET Diploma student. I can not thank the Wine Scholar Guild enough for its excellent, informative, and wonderful programs and its highly trained and capable teachers and support staff. The programs are well laid out, designed to convey understanding rather than memorization. The format is logical, straightforward, and easy to follow, making for very enjoyable learning experience. Any lover of wine, amateur or professional, would be well served by taking any WSG courses. They are truly enriching.
There is no question that the IWS program will be of great help to me when I write the WSET 4, Wines of the World exam. More importantly, when I travel back to Italy, I will be able to communicate intelligently with Italians about the beauty of their wines.
