Congratulations to Yoko Ito, IWS, for passing the Italian Wine Scholar exam with highest honors with Caplan Wine Academy, Tokyo.

About Yoko:

I’m a wine enthusiast. When I first sipped a glass of Château Margaux at a wine bar in Tokyo, I was so enchanted by the heavenly taste that I started to dip into the profound world of wines. Every wine has a different character, and I’ve already encountered so many wonderful wines from around the world. I am always curious of the mysterious life of those outstanding wines which can be surprisingly long-lived in the right conditions, similar to humans’. I also believe good friendship steams from good wines. There’s always something to be learnt from wine lovers.

I’m not engaged in wine business, but wines indeed are part of my life. As they say, French or Italian cuisines can’t be complete without wines. It’s fun to think of what kind of wines should be paired with Japanese dishes as well, which  motivates me for the next step further in the academic field.

I have WSET Level 3, thinking about moving on to Diploma.
In-depth study of Italian wines couldn’t be covered by WSET. Learning from a native Italian teacher was also reassuring and very helpful.

I’m interested in digging a bit further into the wines from other European counties like Spain, Switzerland and Hungary. I also intend to utilize more of your webinars hosted by those special guests. (The recorded ones are especially valuable as here it’s midnight to be on live.)

I hope the program will extend to wines from as many countries as possible!
