Meet Jonathan Gibson, FWS, new FWS program provider and FWS authorized instructor in the UK, who just passed the French Wine Scholar exam with the highest honors. Congratulations!
Jonathan is the Owner and Head Tutor of the Sussex Wine School.
About Jonathan:
''I have worked in the wine and spirits industry for 30 years. It has been an interesting journey from early days in the marketing department at Diageo running Smirnoff and Croft Port through to international brand and design projects for Jameson, Chivas Regal and Louis Roederer to buying and importing for Wine Discoveries. My enthusiasm and fascination for wine has increased the more I have travelled to different wine regions and with every new person I meet from the world of wine.
Over the past 10 years I have run many wine tastings for private and corporate clients and charity events ranging from a small groups to 160 people. I have also worked as a judge at several wine events, run wine workshops at the Tesco Wine Fair and has recently worked as a brand ambassador for both Moet et Chandon champagne and Ruinart champagne.
I set up Sussex Wine School in early 2012. The wine school is part of the Local Wine School network, the founder of which recently won the 2015 WSET Wine Educator of the year award.
I believe that wine education should be for everyone no matter how much or how little experience you have. My style is relaxed, approachable and entertaining. Expect the odd prop from the vineyards and plenty of winemaker anecdotes.
I hold the WSET Diploma and have been an approved WSET Wine Educator qualified to teach up to WSET Level 3 since 2013. We run regular WSET Level 1, 2 and 3 courses in Brighton and Tunbridge Wells and even in house for clients.
The FWS program will appeal to my Level 2 and Level 3 students who are looking for something more in depth in terms of France. The course will be a good stepping stone for them if they are considering enrolling for the WSET Diploma.
On a personal level the FWS program has already reinforced my knowledge and appreciation of French wine and I look forward to sharing this passion with my students.''
