Congratulations Peter Dorfman, FWS for passing the Sud de France Master-Level Certificate with the Highest Honors!

Peter is a wine educator and consultant.

A few words about Peter:

''I am a student of wine who is constantly seeking revelations in wines from around the world. I also work as a wine educator, serving wine at tastings and sharing what I have found and learned in my own wine tasting and travels in wine-making regions with other people. Enjoying wine opens a window into the world from which it comes, the people, the land, the history, and this richness is what inspires me to learn more about wine and to share my still small knowledge and experience with other people.

I have passed the French Wine Scholar (with honors) and now completed the Sud de France Master-Level program. These courses only made me aware of how much more there is to learn! But this is something I love about this subject and I expect to be surprised and humbled by the amazing variety of wines and wine makers for as long as I live.

I have also traveled in many of the great wine-making regions including Languedoc-Roussillon and Cotes du Rhone where I had the privilege of meeting a number of inspiring wine makers. This has deepened my appreciation for the many wonderful characteristics of the art and craft of wine. I joined the Wine Scholar Guild Languedoc-Roussillon Immersion Study trip in 2015 and found the opportunity to connect my experiences drinking wine with the geography and wine producers of the region enhanced my appreciation of wines from that region and my understanding of wine and wine making in general.

My goal is to continue to expand my knowledge to the point where I can make a contribution to a wine importer or retailer and to become more active in sharing and teaching this subject.

I am currently enrolled in the WSET Level 3 Advanced Wine and Spirits program with the goal of gaining a deeper knowledge of the wines from all of the major wine-making regions.

The Sud de France Master-Level program enabled me to understand the most important aspects of this complex and interesting area. Although it also made me aware of how much more there is to learn, the structure of the course and the comprehensive nature of the materials and lectures has given me a sense of confidence that I can be successful in using the knowledge that I have and in continuing to expand my understanding of this area and of other aspects of wine and wine making.
