Congratulations to Li Li, SWS, for achieving highest honors in the Spanish Wine Scholar exam with AWSEC, Hong Kong:

About Li Li:

I am a wine enthusiast. I enjoy tasting a wine when I can feel the secret of terroir, the variation of weather, the power of time and the caring from a human, a marvelous and delicate universe. Moreover, there is a saying that the vines need to suffer to create great wines. I think to a certain extent it’s also the case in our life. I believe every wine has a soul and they are my soulmates.

I started studying wine from last year and I passed the WSET Level 1-3 with either distinction or merit award within 1 year. Now I am a WSET diploma candidate.

The SWS program is well designed to demonstrate the comprehensiveness of Spanish wine, its history, culture, soil, grapes, etc. It complemented my knowledge of Spanish wine, and gave me a great understanding of local appellation and detailed winemaking process, especially sparkling wine and fortified wine, which would help my WSET diploma study as well. Additionally, those scenic pictures in the text book make the study more vivid.

It’s my honor to know the SWS program – Spain is a country with low-key but extraordinary wine and tremendous potential. It’s also one of the countries I’m desperate to visit as soon as we can travel freely!

I think the SWS program could consider organizing guided tours in Spain to let its scholars meet the local grape growers, winemakers and professionals in the wine industry. More efforts could also be considered to introduce Spanish wine into mainland China, and I would love to contribute from my side.
