Wine Scholar Guild honors Eno Cultura as 2019 French Wine Scholar™ Program Provider of the Year!

FWS Program Provider of the Year rewards professionalism and perfectionism in the business of wine education and delivery of the French Wine Scholar study & certification program. Judging criteria includes student volume, facilities, student evaluations and the overall profile of the course offerings given by that learning institution.  These factors, together, create an award-winning environment of academic rigor and excellence.

    Congratulations to Eno Cultura!

INTERVIEW WITH PAULO BRAMMER, CO-FOUNDER OF ENO CULTURA

São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Salvador… Eno Cultura hosted FWS sessions across Brazil in 2019! Can you tell us more about your school? Where are you located and what courses are you offering?

We have started operation in 2013, and since then we decided to grow collaboratively due to Brazil´s geographical size. We are now running courses in 18 estates and, in order to achieve this, we dedicate plenty of time to select, train and develop professionals with a high level of teaching skills and regional knowledge. We are really proud with our team that currently holds 20 tutors, with the highest concentration of FWS Educators and Dip WSET in Latin America.

Our Head Office is in São Paulo with a classroom for 25 students (what we believe to be the max level of people in a classroom). We offer all levels of WSET Courses including the recently started and very first Diploma program in Latin America. We also run themed workshops, online courses and soon we will launch certifications approved by local bodies such as Consejo Regulador de Rioja and Jerez, Bordeaux Wine Council, etc…

In your opinion, what distinguishes the French Wine Scholar program from other certification programs you offer at Eno Cultura?

WSG today offers the most complete course on a specific country. The material is extremely well written with a high level of detailed information!

The French Wine Scholar program is without a doubt the best course about French wines offered in South America, and this is the reason why we are extremely proud to be awarded in our second year running the Program.

What type of experience do you provide to your students (teaching methods, social components, support outside of class, etc) that you think sets you apart?

We believe that inverse education is the way forward. We encourage our students to prepare as much as possible before classes so the actual classroom time is more productive. We have created online courses with specific themes alongside presential workshops with varied tastings.

Use of oak chips, translucent sparkling wine with yeast, cultured yeast, basic wine faults, tasting of malic, tartaric and lactic acid, among other tools such as wine games.

We are also now offering study immersive wine trips to the vineyards in South America so our students can learn directly from the leading winemakers of the region.

Finally, Brazil is quite far from the center stage of the wine industry so we try as much as possible to bring the highest level of education available to the industry. To that end, we have been involved in projects with various Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers in the country such as Tim Atkin MW, Ronan Sayburn MS, Geoff Kruth MS and Alistair Cooper MW, Peter Richards MW, Lydia Harrison MW.
We were also responsible for the first organized Decanter Magazine visit to Brazil during which the focus was on both producers (in Serra Gaúcha) and consumers (in São Paulo).
